Hundertwasser Rainbow Spiral
Hundertwasser, Rainbow Spiral
Under the municipal of Valkenburg is a small place that is called Houthem and there is a Ronald McDonalds house "The Children's Valley". It's a place where kids, who need complex medical care, with their families can have a relaxed holiday. The name that Friedensreich Hundertwasser had giving to the building was Rainbow Spiral. In 2007 the Children's Valley opened the doors for the little patients and their families. The Rainbow Spiral is build in a "Y" with as startingpoint the spiral with the big golden onion. The expenses were 7.2 million euro and a big Swedish corporation did the interior furniture. Friedensreich Hundertwasser designed this house in 1987/88 in New Zealand. The blue "head" wasn't a part of the building but they needed a special room, the so called cuddle room, so kids could lay on a waterbed and play with lights, music and other effects. But they build it accordingly with the Hundertwasser principles. If you're there you can see that the kids enjoy themselfs in the Hundertwasser surroundings. The colourful animal in front of the building is a sculpture made by Peter Broeren. So here is my impression from the Rainbow Spiral designed by
Friedensreich Hundertwasser
